Button Down Blouse

The husband and I had plans to go out for dinner and drinks with friends.

Yep, you guessed it…I needed something to wear!

I had found a tutorial for a button down shirt refashion awhile ago and was just waiting to find the right shirt. You can find that tutorial here: http://www.prettydesigns.com/diy-tutorials-fashion-crafts-wont-miss/

Finally I found a shirt with a pattern I liked!

But first things first, these babies have got to GO!

Buh-Bye you are not needed here!

I began by using my seam ripper to get rid of the sleeves. Then I pinned in the sides to make it a little less boxy and more fitted.

Action shot!

Then I cut fabric from one of the leftover sleeves to make a tie for around the neck. I sewed two strips of this fabric together to make sure the tie would be extra long.

Being the girly girl I am I did not want to wear boring jeans with this top, I needed a skirt!

In comes another super long skirt that needs some help. I had a black skirt that already fit in the waist but was way too long for this era.

I cut and hemmed the skirt to the perfect length! And there ya go! All set for a night out!

Happy Refashioning!
